Blithewold Mansion

The fam and I took a trip to the Blithwold Mansion since it was still all decorated for Christmas.  It's an old home basically owned by a rich family in the early 1900s who made their money in the coal mining industry.  They considered it their "summer home" ... I'd love to see their other home.  This house was huge.  I think there were at least 5 fire places from what I can remember.  As gorgeous as it was decorated it creeped me out.  I don't know, it's something about old houses that is so weird.  I basically walked though the entire house in 5 minutes. Pretty sure my sister and I were the only people there under the age of 50.

They had a huge backyard that was right on the water.  After we toured the home we went outside since the sun was just about to set.  The backyard was beautiful.  Seriously mind-blowing thinking about how rich some of the families were back in the day.

My parents thought they were being funny, especially my dad.  They're not.

Each year the family would have an 18 foot Christmas tree! They know this from journal entries made by family members.

I don't know...it's something about the mantels.  I thought they were so pretty! I'm a sucker for white rooms and beautiful decor.

All in all it was a good trip.  I had fun with my family and I learned some history .... some.
